- Evidence-Based Practice of Sensory
Integration
- This course will provide therapists with key research to support the
theory and practice of sensory integration. Evidence for the key
points of the sensory integration frame of reference will be provided.
The key concepts of sensory integration intervention will be presented and
research on the effectiveness of SI Intervention will be examined and
critiqued.
Introductory to Intermediate Level
-
- Essentials of Praxis Intervention for
Children with Autism
- This course will present an overview of the key aspects needed for
effective intervention for practic problems in children with autism. A
clinical reasoning framework for treatment will be presented. The
important role of imitation and play in praxis with children with autism
will be highlighted.
-
- Introductory Level
-
- Fundamentals of Sensory Integration
Theory: Application to Practice
- This course will introduce practitioners to the fundamentals of sensory
integration theory. The underlying principles of sensory integration will be
discussed. This course will form a solid foundation for understanding
sensory integration intervention. This course is ideal for the practitioner
who wants a solid overview of sensory integration theory and neurology that
is meaningfully applied to intervention.
-
- Introductory Level
-
- GAS Training
- This course presents an in-depth look at Goal Attainment Scaling (GAS)
methodology and its application as a functional outcome measure for
occupational therapy using a sensory integration approach. This training
program will present theoretical and practical information needed to prepare
therapists for the use of the GAS methodology in both clinical and research
applications.
-
- Intermediate Level
-
- Introduction to Sensory Integration for
Individuals with Disabilities
- This course will provide an overview of sensory integration
intervention as applied to individuals with multiple disabilities. Emphasis
will be on application of sensory integration principles to adolescents and
adults with disabilities.
-
- Introductory Level
- Clinical Reasoning and Treatment
Planning for Praxis Intervention
- This advanced-level clinical reasoning course
builds upon the clinical intervention knowledge gained in the course
Clinical Assessment and Practical Interventions for Praxis: From Ideation to
Execution and allows for development of advanced clinical reasoning and
treatment planning skills for praxis intervention.
-
- Advanced Level
Two-Day Courses -
- Clinical Assessment and Practical
Intervention for Praxis: From Ideation to Execution
- This course will present an overview of the components of praxis with
an emphasis on clinical assessment and intervention for practic problems
with children with sensory integration problems. A clinical
observation-based assessment and clinical reasoning model will be presented.
Practical intervention strategies will be highlighted throughout the course.
Advanced Level
-
- Clinical Assessment of Sensory Processing
Disorders
- This course will provide a foundation for assessment of sensory
integration difficulties in children. Principles and clinical reasoning
strategies for assessment of sensory integration problems will be addressed.
-
- Introductory Level
-
- Sensory Integration Intervention
- This course will provide a foundation for treatment of sensory
integration and praxis difficulties in children. The core principles of
sensory integration intervention will be reviewed.
-

-
- Clinical Assessment of Sensory Integration
Difficulties in Adolescents and Adults with Disabilities
- This course will provide a foundation for clinical assessment of
sensory integration and praxis difficulties in adults and adolescents with
various disabilities such as autism, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, and
multiple disabilities. Emphasis will be on identifying sensory integration
dysfunctions from comorbid difficulties in persons with multiple
disabilities.
-
- Introductory Level
-
- Sensory Integration Based Intervention
for Adolescents and Adults with Disabilities
- This course will provide a foundation for treatment of sensory
integration and praxis difficulties in adults and adolescents with various
disabilities such as autism, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, and
multiple disabilities. Interventions for sensory modulation and
discrimination problems, praxis difficulties and foundational postural
skills in the adult/ adolescent population will be presented. The
relationship of sensory integration intervention to comorbid difficulties in
persons with multiple disabilities will be addressed.
-
- Introductory Level
-
- Clinical Assessment of Sensory Processing
in Children with Autism
- This course will provide a foundation for clinical assessment of
sensory integration and postural difficulties in children with autism. A
structured observational assessment of sensory modulation and discrimination
problems, and foundational postural skills in children with autism will be
presented. This course will also address identification and contribution of
sensory integrative dysfunctions to acting out, self-stimulatory and
self-abusive behaviors.
